A free felt piano from Skyler Young (Pianobook), played in Decent Sampler.
S.K.Y. Felt Piano is a Yamaha upright recorded by Skyler Young late at night in a quiet family home. He recorded it with the celeste pedal down, which gives it a felt-like softness. The tone is warm, rounded and gentle without sounding too muffled. Users note that it is clean and quiet for such a soft recording. It suits small, private moments, letters and gentle piano lines over dialogue. The big catch is that there is only one dynamic layer. The tone does not change with how hard you play, and very long notes can reveal faint background noise.
Worth knowing: You need a free Pianobook account to download it. It comes as a Decent Sampler instrument (plus a Logic EXS24 version), so you do not need Kontakt.
