A free upright piano from SampleScience, played in Standalone plugin.
Cozy Piano is a free upright from SampleScience, sampled from a Remeau piano in a large living room in Thuir, France, in 2025. It was recorded with two Rode NT5 microphones set up as an XY pair, so the stereo image is natural and some of the room is kept. The tone is warm and soft, with small imperfections left in. It suits quiet underscore, late-night sketches and intimate drama. Besides the plugin, it comes in Decent Sampler, Soundbox, SFZ and Reason versions. One review warns that heavy reverb and pedal can make it sound washy. The Kontakt version needs the full Kontakt, not the free Player.
Worth knowing: A $0 download through Gumroad. It also comes in Decent Sampler, SFZ and other formats; the Kontakt version needs full Kontakt.
