A free experimental piano from Christian Henson (Pianobook), played in Decent Sampler.
Flannel Piano comes from an old and worn Broadwood & Sons piano. Christian Henson sampled it before it was dropped from a crane in Aberdeenshire. Its age made it sound harsh, so he covered the strings with flannel. That gives a muffled, soft and slightly rough tone. It suits quiet, uneasy or wistful scenes where a clean piano would feel too polished. Pianobook files it as a treated piano rather than a standard one. Little has been published about how it was recorded, and it has no user reviews yet. A free Pianobook account is needed to download it.
Worth knowing: You need a free Pianobook account to download it. The Kontakt version may not run in the free Kontakt Player, so use the Decent Sampler version.
