Ratio is a Steinway B grand recorded at Sunset Sound in Los Angeles, on a piano played by Prince, Stevie Nicks and Earth, Wind & Fire. It has a characterful tone that is brighter than a felt piano. One reviewer called it dreamy and ambient, and suggested it for cinematic scores and emotional pop. That makes it useful for heartfelt themes and lighter score where a felt piano would sound too muffled. It runs only in Orchestral Tools' free SINEplayer, not in Kontakt, and needs an account and newsletter sign-up. The low end is not especially heavy, so it may lack weight for big, dramatic bass parts.
