A free grand piano from Native Instruments, played in Kontakt Player.
Piano Uno is a concert grand that Native Instruments includes with its free Kontakt 8 Player. It is there so the player makes a usable sound straight away, before any other library is installed. Native Instruments says little about the piano or how it was recorded. Forum users describe it as playable and light on the computer, and one calls it simply adequate. That makes it a sensible piano for sketching cues and drafting placeholder parts. It is a general-purpose sound rather than one with a strong character. The catch is the setup: Kontakt 8 Player needs macOS 14 or Windows 10 or 11, and an internet connection to install and activate.
Worth knowing: It comes with the free Kontakt 8 Player, which needs macOS 14 or Windows 10 or 11, and an internet connection to install and activate.
